Efya, S3fa, others descend on Big Akwes after body-shaming attack on Cina Soul

Various social media users and personalities have come to the defence of musician, Cina Soul, after a video showing actor and entertainment pundit, Big Akwes, using some unsavoury words on her went viral.

In the viral video, Big Akwes, while on an entertainment review show on Accra-based Max TV, reacted to a video showing Cina Soul dancing.

However, her style of dressing did not go well with him, as he claimed it did not suit her brand and body. He went on to body-shame her, using some insulting words on her.

Reacting to the video, songstress Efya could not hold back her anger, stating, “This is soo appalling!!! @maxtvgh, how are you allowing this on your channel?? We just celebrated Women’s Month!! Why are presenters speaking in such a derogatory manner towards an amazing, beautiful, thriving female artist??? Why!!!! This is uncalled for and disrespectful and unacceptable!!!!!!!!!”

Another female musician, S3fa, went after the presenter on the show, questioning why she was silent amidst the onslaught.

“It’s the woman sitting there for me, laughing while men dissect another woman’s body and career on live TV. What right do you have to sit on national television and reduce an artist’s hard work to her outfit?” she said.

Social media influencer, Ama Burland, also waded into the fray, recounting when the late musician Ebony Reigns was constantly bullied and harassed until her death in 2018, after which people started ‘loving’ her.

“This is what they did to Ebony, and when she died suddenly, she deserved Artiste of the Year. Such nonsense! You people will never learn. If you think a child is going wayward, is that how to correct them? Just straight-up insults and body shaming? Wth?” she posted.

Efia Odo also pointed out how Cina Soul was not supported for her craft but is rather being criticised over her outfit.

“Meanwhile, they’ve never played her song or promoted her in any type of way. Being old doesn’t mean you’re wise, ampa!” she posted.

Various other social media users also expressed their wrath at Big Akwes, calling for an apology from the actor and the TV station in question.
