10 dead in gory accident at Suhum

Ten passengers are reported dead in a gory accident at Mankron, a community near Suhum along the Accra-Kumasi highway.

Several other passengers sustained serious injuries and are in critical condition. Some of the injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The fatal accident involved two buses with registration numbers GS 835-15 and GN 6600-17.

The cause of the accident is not yet known but an eyewitness told Starr News that a wrong overtaking might have caused the fatal crash.

Meanwhile, a Joint Rescue team made up of personnel of the Police, NADMO, and Fire Service are at the scene retrieving the dead bodies from the mangled vehicles.

An official of the rescue team, Joseph Okai Djan, Ayensuano District NADMO Director described the accident as very “serious and horrible”.
