WATCH: Asakaa DJ and Amerado Clash at Osekrom Sikanii’s Event

An incident involving a disk jockey affiliated with the Ghanaian musical group Asakaa Boys and award-winning musician Amerado has sparked widespread discussion on social media following an altercation at a music event held in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. The event was organised by fellow musician Osekrom Sikanii and brought together several artistes and industry players.
According to a video circulating on YouTube and published by Poleeno Media, tensions escalated when the DJ associated with Asakaa Boys reportedly interfered with Amerado’s scheduled performance. The footage suggests that the DJ disconnected the cable being used by Amerado’s DJ at the moment Amerado was preparing to mount the stage. This action reportedly halted the performance and led to a heated exchange at the venue.
In the video, the Asakaa-affiliated DJ is alleged to have insisted that his artiste must perform before Amerado, despite the apparent programme arrangement. The sudden interruption reportedly angered Amerado, who confronted the DJ over the action. What followed was a brief physical confrontation between the two, drawing the attention of attendees and other industry figures present at the event.
The situation caused a temporary disruption to the programme as organisers and other individuals stepped in to calm tensions and restore order. After the Asakaa Boys completed their performance, Amerado was later allowed to return to the stage to perform for the audience. His performance reportedly went on without further incident.
The video has since gained traction online, with many music fans and social media users expressing mixed reactions. Some have criticised the actions of the DJ, describing them as unprofessional and disrespectful to a fellow artiste, while others have urged artistes and their teams to handle disagreements calmly to avoid public confrontations.
The incident has reignited conversations about event management, stage protocol, and professionalism within Ghana’s music industry. Industry observers have noted that misunderstandings over performance order are common at live events but stress that such issues should be resolved behind the scenes rather than through confrontation.
Neither Amerado nor representatives of the Asakaa Boys had issued an official statement at the time of reporting. Organisers of the event have also not publicly commented on the incident. As the video continues to circulate, many fans are calling for calm and mutual respect among artistes to preserve unity within the industry.
