Volta Police Destroy 47,530kg of Indian Hemp in Ho

The Volta Regional Police Command has successfully destroyed 600 sacks of Indian hemp, totaling approximately 47,530 kilograms, following a court order. The destruction took place at the Klefe dumping site in Ho, the regional capital.
The seized cannabis was initially confiscated in 2022 during investigations involving Yao Kwadwo (alias Wallako) and two other suspects. After a lengthy legal process, the Ho Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour Felix Datsumor, ordered the destruction of the illegal substances.
The burning operation was carried out under strict supervision, including the court registrar, state attorney, as well as representatives from the Narcotics Control Commission and the Environmental Protection Authority, ensuring that all legal and environmental protocols were observed.
Police authorities described the destruction as a strong signal in the fight against drug trafficking, emphasizing the importance of public support in combating illegal drug activities. The operation underscores the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to enforce the law and protect communities from narcotics-related threats.
