VIDEO: Popular Nigerian Actor Okemesi Passes Away After Health Complications

Nollywood actor Oluwatope Bamidele Saint, popularly known as Okemesi, has died following health complications, leaving fans and the entertainment industry in mourning.

Okemesi passed away on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, at a hospital in Nigeria after being in a short coma caused by complications from medication administered during his treatment. His untimely death shocked many of his colleagues and fans.

The news was confirmed by his colleague Jeff ‘Tony Montana’ Owolewa, who shared the update in an emotional video on Instagram. Jeff revealed that the actor had been pronounced dead by a doctor around 11:50 a.m. that morning, and his body had been moved to the morgue. He also thanked supporters who had stood by Okemesi during his illness and promised that details of the final rites would be shared soon.

Okemesi was widely celebrated for his comedic talent and unique performances in Nollywood, particularly for his skillful use of the Ekiti dialect, which brought a distinct flavour to his roles. He became known as one of the most beloved comic actors in the Nigerian film industry.

News of his passing has prompted an outpouring of grief across social media, with colleagues, fans, and fellow entertainers remembering him for his humour, creativity, and contributions to Nollywood.
