Four passengers narrowly escaped a potential disaster after a helicopter made an emergency landing at Ajumako Kokoben in the Central Region on Wednesday morning.
The aircraft, with registration number 9G-ADW, was en route to Prestea in the Western Region when the pilot was forced to divert and land at the Ajumako Kokoben Community School park around 10:30 a.m.
Eyewitnesses told Adom News that the pilot cited bad weather conditions as the reason for the unscheduled landing, warning that continuing the journey would have been dangerous.
The chopper remained grounded for over three hours before taking off again once conditions improved.
This incident reportedly occurred just about an hour before the tragic military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, which claimed eight lives, including two ministers.
Some residents of Ajumako Kokoben expressed mixed emotions, initially thrilled to witness a helicopter landing in their town but later saddened by the news of the fatal crash in the Ashanti Region.
Meanwhile, authorities are yet to comment officially on the emergency landing.
