MyNewsGh.com has obtained incontrovertible evidence that the beleaguered Anglican priest at the centre of the St. Monica’s College of Education church podium kissing episode has had his priesthood license revoked by the church in the past.

Venerable Balthazar Obeng Larbi, alias Father Ricky had his license revoked by the church after he had a daughter outside of his marriage and further refused to take responsibility for the child.

It was the current Metropolitan Archbishop of Ghana, the Most. Rev. Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith, while he was the Bishop for the Mampong Diocese who reinstated his license to practice again after he accepted responsibility for the child and allowed her to bear his surname.

The girl (name withheld), whose mother remains a member of the Anglican Church is currently a student of the St. Monica’s Senior High School in Mampong; MyNewsGh.com is in possession of exclusive pictures in which she posed with her father, Rev. Baltharzar Obeng Larbi, whom she bears a striking semblance to.

After the video of the chaplain and lawyer of the St. Monica’s College of Education went viral, the Anglican Church under whose mission the school is founded issued a statement expressing sadness and promising to deal with him “in accordance with the values and norms of the Anglican Communion where morality is extremely revered in the church”.

Meanwhile, the management of the St. Monica’s College of Education in Mampong has relieved Rev. Baltharzar Obeng Larbi of his duties indefinitely.

After a crunch meeting last Tuesday, the Acting Principal of the college, Dr. Osei Korankye said; “Since the incident happened, management has been having a series of engagements. Management met and took some decisions. We have met convocation, and we have met students at the various interaction levels. Management also wants to add their voice to exactly what the church has said that the necessary investigations into the matter.”

“I think one that I want everyone to be aware of is that, by the directive of the church, the Bishop has directed that the said Rev. Father should be relieved off all his clerical and pastoral services from the school whilst the investigation is ongoing.”

The three students captured in the viral video are currently undergoing counseling sessions “to avert any psychological issues that may arise as a result of the viral video”.
