Three Arrested for Impersonating Speaker of Parliament and IGP

The Ghana Police Service has arrested three individuals for allegedly impersonating senior public officials, including the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP). The arrests were carried out during an intelligence-led operation in the Sogakope and Dabala areas.

According to police information, the suspects were found posing as the high-ranking officials in an attempt to deceive members of the public. Authorities say such actions pose a serious threat to public trust and national security, prompting swift intervention by law enforcement agencies.

The arrests form part of ongoing efforts by the police to clamp down on impersonation and related criminal activities. Investigators are currently working to establish the full extent of the suspects’ actions and whether other individuals were involved in the scheme.

Police officials indicated that the suspects will be processed for court once investigations are completed. They also cautioned the public to be vigilant and report individuals who falsely present themselves as public office holders.

The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of state institutions and ensuring that persons who undermine public confidence through impersonation are brought to justice.
