Osebo the Zaraman has warned former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo against seeking a leadership position within the Kristo Asafo Mission, saying he would pursue legal action if she attempts to do so.
The comments were made during an interview on Owia TV, where Osebo was asked about reported tensions between Kwadwo Safo Akofena and Adwoa Safo and whether the situation could potentially result in a split within the church.
Rather than dwell on the possibility of a division, Osebo focused on the issue of leadership and cited what he described as provisions in the church’s constitution governing who can occupy its highest leadership position.
According to him, the church’s constitution does not permit a woman to occupy the top leadership role.
“Adwoa Safo can never become a leader of the church. If she dares, I will face her,” Osebo said.
He maintained that Adwoa Safo is familiar with the rules and regulations governing the Kristo Asafo Mission and indicated that she has not expressed any intention to seek the leadership position.
Despite this, Osebo said he would not hesitate to take the matter to court should she eventually decide to pursue the role.
His comments come amid public interest in the relationship between Adwoa Safo and Kwadwo Safo Akofena, particularly in connection with leadership within the Kristo Asafo Mission.
Osebo’s warning appears to be centred on the interpretation and enforcement of the church’s internal rules rather than a direct claim that Adwoa Safo has formally declared her intention to contest for the position.
For now, there is no indication from the remarks that Adwoa Safo has announced plans to seek the leadership role. Osebo, however, has made clear that he intends to challenge any such move through legal channels if it occurs.
The development has the potential to fuel further discussion about leadership, succession and the interpretation of constitutional provisions within religious organisations in Ghana.
