PHOTOS: Family of late Christian Atsu meets President Akufo-Addo

Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has met with the family members of Christian Atsu, the late Ghanaian footballer, to discuss funeral plans.

The meeting which took place on February 27th also had officials from the Ghana Football Association in attendance.

During the meeting, the President expressed his condolences to the family and described Atsu as a gift from God to the country.

He also assured the family that the government would do everything to give the late player a dignified burial.

President Akufo-Addo instructed the Chief of Staff to ensure that a state-assisted funeral is organized for Atsu, depending on the date selected by the family and the Ghana Football Association.

The President pledged the government’s support to ensure that Atsu is given a fitting burial.

While the date for the funeral is yet to be decided, the family has scheduled a one-week observation for the late footballer on March 4th.
