Reno Omokri called out by ex-wife, accused of domestic abuse
Tuokpe, the estranged wife of author and political activist Reno Omokri, has revealed that her former husband has an open history of domestic abuse.
The allegations first appeared in a detailed Instagram post by Tuokpe, where she discussed her traumatic experiences and underlined that no woman should ever face assault of any kind.
In her post, Tuokpe described several horrifying experiences, one of which was the horrifying moment she discovered blood stains from a punctured eardrum, which she said Reno Omokri had caused on her pillow.
She also alleged more assaults, which made her call the police for assistance.
Tuokpe contrasted her upbringing with her ex-husband’s alleged expectations, accusing him of seeking a partner who would conform to his dominant nature.
She wrote: “No woman should ever tolerate abuse in a marriage, regardless of how infrequent it might be. We often make excuses like wanting to maintain a complete family or staying for the sake of the children. But the truth is, your children deserve better. After the first instance of violence, which left me with a swollen jaw and weeks of pain, I made excuses, thinking I must have provoked the anger. I even had to endure seeing my daughter witness another slap. And there was the morning I woke up to find blood on my pillow from a ruptured eardrum you caused. The final straw was when you assaulted me again, leading me to involve the police.
“Now you claim to be happily married to a woman who doesn’t ‘quarrel.’ Good luck to her, because you always wanted someone you could control and intimidate. I was never meant to be that person; I wasn’t raised to be timid.”
Many social media users stated that Tuokpe had been silent about her marriage and divorce from Reno Omokri; hence, they believed whatever she said. Others opined that Reno Omokri often abuses people on social media, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he did abuse his former wife.
