Theological Lecturer at the Baptist University College (BUC), Reverend Kofi Owusu has rubbished Archbishop Duncan William’s quest for Ghanaians to dedicate a 72-hour prayer and fast for the country’s development saying prayers will only make the citizenry ‘powerfully poor’.

Archbishop Duncan Williams, the General Overseer of Action Chapel International Ministry proclaimed last Sunday at his church that Ghana is in crisis hence Ghanaians must fast to liberate the country from the shackles of the crises.

“We as a nation are facing crisis, with lots of difficulties and hardships and in these times we must proclaim a fast”. Archbishop Duncan Williams said.

He further called for a 72-hour fasting and prayers.

However, Rev. Kofi Owusu who also happens to be a Senior Pastor of Baptist Church at Ashtown in Kumasi in response to the call by Duncan Williams, said there are a lots things leadership of the country must do for development and not prayers from Christians.

“When you pray, you are going to get revelation and power. What is the essence after getting revelation and you are still poor. Today you are telling Ghanaians to pray. We only pray for power and we shall be powerful poor”. He told Angel Fm in Kumasi Monday monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
