Popular South African influencer burns designer clothes after becoming born-again

After encountering Christ, one of the many changes Kefilwe Mabote has made in her life is letting go of some worldly possessions she now views as vanity or associated with the demonic realm.

South African influencer Kefilwe Mabote, known for her appearance on the ‘Young, Famous and African’ Netflix series, has posted a video on Instagram setting fire to designer items, many of which were from the luxury brand Versace.

Kefilwe Mabote, who had been a pioneer in luxury fashion influencing in South Africa, filmed herself burning several Versace pieces, particularly those with the ‘Medusa’ logo.

In her Instagram story, she wrote, “Burning the Medusa face was one of the most freeing and therapeutic things I’ve ever done. It was part of breaking down the idols I unknowingly built in my heart, the very things that distracted me from fully walking with Jesus.”

She emphasised that she has found God and that there are many things she once followed and didn’t understand were actually evil, adding that these revelations have now become clearer to her.

Prior to this, she kickstarted 2025 by giving away some of her luxury clothes, including some high-end designer pieces, to her loyal followers.

Kefilwe, butressing on her spiritual awakening, mentioned practices such as idolatry, horoscopes, new age beliefs, unforgiveness, soul ties, certain cultural traditions, wrong associations, and even some social media trends as “evil things” from which she has repented.

“These things kept me bound without me realising it and were tools the enemy used to keep me in bondage,” she reflected.

The popular model added that she has fully surrendered to Jesus, repented of her sins, and renounced everything that gave the devil access to her life.

“I see life differently now, and I’ve learned to live with humility,” she wrote.
