Police Escort Vehicle Hits 60-Year-Old Man on Historic Walk from Paga to Accra

A 60-year-old man, popularly known as Desire Caesar, also referred to as The Mosiah Walkerman, has been knocked down by a police escort vehicle while undertaking an ambitious 832.4-kilometre walk from Paga to Accra.

The incident occurred during the course of the long-distance journey, which had attracted public attention due to its scale and the endurance required to complete it. Caesar’s walk had drawn support and curiosity from communities along the route, with police escort services providing security at certain stages of the trek.

According to reports, the police escort vehicle accidentally struck Caesar while he was on the road. The impact caused injuries, prompting an immediate response from bystanders and emergency personnel who rushed to assist him. He received first aid at the scene before further medical attention was arranged.

Details about the severity of his injuries were not immediately disclosed, but the incident sparked concern among members of the public following the walk. Many expressed worry over safety arrangements for individuals embarking on such physically demanding and high-risk journeys on major road networks.

The incident has also raised questions about road safety coordination, especially when official escort vehicles are involved in supporting public endurance activities. Authorities are expected to review the circumstances surrounding the accident to determine how it occurred and whether additional safety measures should have been implemented.
