Security authorities in Ghana have successfully busted an organized cybercrime gang and rescued several victims who were reportedly abducted as part of the group’s criminal activities.
The operation, carried out in the Okpoi‑Gono District, followed an intelligence-led investigation that linked the suspects to multiple offences, including cyber-enabled fraud and abduction. Police moved swiftly after receiving credible information about the gang’s operations.
During the intervention, officers were able to rescue several victims who had been held by the gang. Authorities are now providing support and care to the victims as part of efforts to aid their recovery from the ordeal. They also warned the public to remain vigilant against online scams and suspicious communications.
The arrests are considered a major success for Ghanaian law enforcement, highlighting the growing commitment to protect citizens from digital and physical threats. Police assured the public that the suspects will face prosecution and that further arrests may follow as investigations continue.
Authorities also reminded the public to exercise caution when interacting with unknown contacts online and to promptly report any suspected fraudulent activity.
