Oldest man dies at 115 years in Ashanti Region
Opanin Samuel Kwaku Nyame, alias Agya Sam, aged 115, the oldest person in the Amenase community in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region, has died.
The veteran cocoa farmer who had massive cocoa farms at different locations of the country, married four wives and is survived by 22 children and 53 grandchildren.
Nana Kwaku Opoku, Amenase Oyoko Abusuapanin and the family spokesman, said the deceased did not have any formal education but followed the footsteps of his father, who was a big time farmer.
He attributed the long life enjoyed by the deceased to his ardent belief in honesty and truthfulness, adding “he died a centenarian due to his strong Christian faith, which he always portrayed in showing extreme kindness and selflessness to mankind”.
“He was also a teetotaler, who always abstained from alcoholic drinks and always advised his grandchildren to stay away from strong drinks,” the family spokesman added.
