NIB Arrests Suspect Behind Fake Ghana Scholarship Secretariat Accounts

The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has arrested a man identified as Emmanuel Ofori for allegedly creating multiple fake social media accounts impersonating the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat.

According to reports, Ofori used these fraudulent accounts to deceive unsuspecting students by promising them scholarships and financial aid. Victims were reportedly lured into sharing personal details and, in some cases, making payments in hopes of securing funding.

The NIB confirmed that Ofori’s actions targeted vulnerable students who were desperate for educational support. The Bureau has urged the public to remain vigilant and to verify any communication claiming to come from the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat through official government channels.

Authorities have also assured Ghanaians that the suspect will be prosecuted to serve as a warning to others engaged in online impersonation and fraud.
