Neglect Leaves Nana Konadu’s Makola Clinic in Disrepair

A recent video has revealed the dilapidated state of the Makola Clinic, founded by former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman‑Rawlings, once a key healthcare facility for Accra’s market community.

The footage shows broken windows, peeling paint, overgrown vegetation, and idle medical equipment, painting a stark picture of neglect. Vendors and residents who once relied on the clinic for healthcare now express concern over its unusable state.

The clinic’s deterioration has sparked debate about management accountability and oversight for healthcare facilities established or supported by prominent figures. Community leaders are calling on the Ministry of Health and local authorities to intervene, restore the facility, and ensure it continues to serve the people of Makola Market effectively.

So far, the clinic’s management has not provided a public explanation, but the video has reignited conversations on the importance of maintaining health infrastructure and protecting public trust in essential services.
