Kwahu Mountain: Driver’s mate dies after truck runs over him
A 35-year-old man has met his untimely death after jumping from a loaded Kia Rhino truck when the driver lost control on Nkawkaw-Atibie Road (Odweanoma Mountain) in the Kwahu South District of Eastern Region.
The sad incident occurred on Friday 22nd November 2019 around 2:00pm.
The truck was said to have been loaded with maize from Tease in the Afram Plains South District to Koforidua for delivery.
An eyewitness, Harry, told Nkawkaw based Agoo FM’s Kwame Abuoku, that the Driver’s mate was seen jumping from the car when the Kia Rhino nearly landed into a deep valley of the mountain after losing control but luckily the driver, Ahmed Agyei was able to prevent it from happening.
In the process, the Kia Rhino with registration number AW 1379-17 run over the driver’s mate immediately after he jumped from the vehicle, although he tried to save himself.
Good Samaritans rushed him to Atibie Government Hospital but was pronounced dead.
The driver is in good condition and has been discharged from the hospital but found it difficult to handle the news of his brother’s death.
On Wednesday, three persons escaped death on Nkawkaw-Obomeng road when a Kia Rhino loaded with charcoal from Afram Plains lost control.
