Ghanaian music legend Kojo Antwi has paid a courtesy visit to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Asantehemaa Nana Yaa Akyaa II at the Manhyia Palace.
The visit took place during the Awukudae Festival and provided the celebrated musician an opportunity to present copies of his memoir, Mr. Music Man: The Journey, to the Asante royal household.
Kojo Antwi presented 300 copies of the memoir to the Asantehene and another 50 copies to the Asantehemaa during the engagement.
The musician also paid a separate visit to the Asantehemaa to congratulate her on her enstoolment. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Rocklyn Antwi, and broadcaster Dr Kwame Adinkrah.
The memoir, which was launched in February 2026, documents Kojo Antwi’s life, musical career and experiences spanning several decades in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
The book traces his journey from his formative years through his rise as one of Ghana’s most influential musicians. It also reflects on the people and experiences that shaped his career and the development of his musical craft.
Kojo Antwi has explained that one of the motivations behind documenting his story was the limited number of written accounts left by many African music legends. Through the memoir, he hopes to preserve his experiences and contribute to the historical record of African music.
During his meeting with the Asantehene, the musician also revealed plans to launch his next album at the Manhyia Palace in honour of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Although the official date for the album launch has not yet been announced, Kojo Antwi assured the Asantehene that he intends to hold the launch in his presence.
The meeting brought together two significant aspects of Ghanaian culture: the country’s traditional heritage and its rich musical history.
Kojo Antwi’s career, which has been influenced by highlife, reggae and other African musical styles, has earned him a lasting place in Ghana’s entertainment history.
His presentation of the memoir to the Asantehene therefore represented more than a simple book presentation. It provided an opportunity for the veteran musician to share part of his personal and professional journey with one of Ghana’s most prominent traditional leaders.
The engagement also underscored the importance of preserving Ghanaian cultural stories through both traditional institutions and the creative arts.
With plans already underway for his next album, Kojo Antwi’s visit to Manhyia could mark the beginning of another significant chapter in the career of the veteran musician.
