Harrowing Assault: Woman Speaks Out After Viral Video of Husband’s Abuse

Harriet Amuzu, a woman who was violently attacked by her estranged husband in Ofankor, has shared her shocking and painful experience following a deeply disturbing video that went viral online. According to her, her husband, John Odartey Lamptey, demanded sex despite their ongoing separation. When she refused, he allegedly began physically abusing her.

Harriet recounted how, during the assault, he stripped her naked, including removing her underwear and waist beads—items he claimed to have bought himself. The violence escalated: he beat her with a stick, stepped on her body, and at one point allegedly pulled out a knife, threatening to sever her hand.

She also describes an act of humiliation and control: her attacker allegedly smeared pepper on her thighs and private parts, intensifying her pain. In the midst of the mayhem, a man named Oketeku intervened and tried to stop him, even wrestling the knife away. But the attacker continued after kicking Oketeku out of the room.

After Harriet cried for mercy, she said he locked her in the room with their children outside, using force and threats to maintain control.

The victim’s story sheds light on a pattern of abuse: she claims this was not the first time Lamptey had assaulted her. She says she had previously reported him to both the Ofankor and Tesano police stations—but no real action was taken.

Harriet is now seeking justice. She’s calling on the authorities to ensure her estranged husband is held accountable, and she hopes her story will raise awareness about domestic violence and help other victims speak up.
