Ghana Set to Receive 300 New ISUZU Buses to Strengthen Metro Mass Transit

Deputy Minister of Transport, Hon. Dorcas Affo‑Toffey, has confirmed that the final inspection of 300 new ISUZU buses for Metro Mass Transit (MMT) has been completed in Egypt ahead of their delivery to Ghana.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, Affo‑Toffey highlighted the importance of the inspection in ensuring the buses meet operational standards and safety requirements before being integrated into Ghana’s public transport fleet.
“This inspection ensures that the buses are fully ready for service, providing reliable, safe, and comfortable transport for commuters across our cities,” she noted, emphasizing the government’s commitment to modernizing urban transport infrastructure.
The 300 ISUZU buses are expected to strengthen Metro Mass Transit’s operations, reduce overcrowding, and enhance commuter experience in major urban centers such as Accra and Kumasi. Officials have stressed that the rollout will include comprehensive driver training, maintenance support, and integration into existing routes to ensure smooth operations.
Affo‑Toffey’s inspection visit demonstrates the Ministry of Transport’s hands-on approach in monitoring public transport initiatives and reflects ongoing efforts to expand and modernize Ghana’s transport system to meet the demands of a growing urban population.
