Ghana Armed Forces Clarifies Peacekeeping Salaries for Deployed Soldiers

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has addressed public concerns regarding the salaries and allowances received by Ghanaian soldiers serving on international peacekeeping missions.
Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Director General for Public Relations at GAF, explained that some misconceptions have circulated about troop compensation during overseas deployments. She emphasised that Ghanaian peacekeepers are paid according to international standards, including base pay, mission-specific allowances, and daily stipends, which may vary depending on the host organisation and the nature of the deployment.
The clarification comes as Ghana continues to contribute personnel to peacekeeping operations in regions that are often challenging and high-risk. In addition to monetary compensation, deployed soldiers receive logistical support, health services, and insurance coverage to ensure their safety and well-being while representing the nation abroad.
Captain Arhin highlighted that Ghanaian troops have a long-standing reputation for professionalism and dedication in international missions. She reassured both the public and the soldiers that the military leadership remains committed to transparency and welfare for all personnel involved in peacekeeping duties.
While compensation is important, Captain Arhin emphasised that many soldiers are motivated primarily by the commitment to upholding peace and security in regions experiencing conflict, reflecting Ghana’s dedication to international peacekeeping efforts.
The GAF’s statement serves to correct misinformation and provide a clear understanding of the support and recognition that Ghanaian soldiers receive while serving their country on the global stage.
