German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier Begins Three-Day State Visit to Ghana

The President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, has arrived in Ghana for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new areas of cooperation between the two nations.
The visit, which runs from November 2 to 4, 2025, follows an invitation from Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama. It marks a significant step in deepening Ghana–Germany ties, particularly in the areas of trade, renewable energy, education, and technology.
Day 1 – Arrival in Accra
President Steinmeier was received at the Kotoka International Airport by senior government officials and members of the diplomatic corps.
Day 2 – Official Meetings in Accra
The German leader is expected to inspect a Guard of Honour at the Jubilee House, followed by a private meeting and bilateral talks with President Mahama.
A state luncheon will be held in his honour, after which he will visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s first President.
Later in the day, Steinmeier will engage young Ghanaian innovators and IT specialists before attending a reception at the German Ambassador’s residence.
Day 3 – Kumasi Engagements
On his final day, President Steinmeier will travel to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, where he will take part in a project launch at the Kumasi Technical Institute and interact with students and academics at KNUST.
He will also visit the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research and pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace before departing Ghana.
This visit is expected to enhance cooperation in education, innovation, and economic development, while reinforcing Germany’s long-standing partnership with Ghana.
