Free all jailed Ghanaian galamseyers like Aisha Huang – Chief Biney demands

The Outspoken Deputy National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chief Biney Hamilton Nixon has taken a swipe at the Senior Minister, Mr Yaw Osafo Marfo over his recent comments on the release of the Galamsey queen, Aisha Huang and called on government to immediately release all Ghanaians who have been jailed because of their involvement in illegal mining.

At a town hall meeting recently held outside the country, Mr Yaw Osafo Marfo was heard in a widely circulated video saying it does not serve in the interest of any Ghanaian to have Aisha Huang jailed in Ghana where she was alleged to have committed the crime in connivance with others.

“Putting [Aisha Huang] in jail in Ghana is not going to solve your money problem. It is not going to make you happy or me happy”, he revealed to contrary shouts from the background that they should have at least jailed her.

Trying to explain off the precarious nature of the issue he added “We have a very good relationship with China. The main company that is helping develop the infrastructure system in Ghana is Sinohydro, it is a Chinese Company. It is the one that is going to help process our bauxite and provide about $2 billion to us. So when there are these kind of arrangements there are other things behind the scenes. Putting [Aisha Huang] in jail in Ghana is not going to solve your money problem. It is not going to make you happy or me happy.”

But reacting to this comment in a Facebook post sighted by MyNewsGh.com, the NDC Organizer called on Mr Yaw Osafo Marfo to apologize to all Ghanaians who are into galamsey and cause the release of all Ghanaians who have been jailed in the name of Galamsey fight, following government’s position on Aisha Haung.

Chief Biney quizzed whether jailing Ghanaians who were into galamsey, have solved our money problem as a country. He argued that government’s position as communicated by the Senior Minister supports every call for all Ghanaians who have been jailed because of their involvement in illegal mining otherwise known as galamsey, to be released immediately since jailing them has not solved our problems as country.
