Fake Soldier Arrested for Extorting Traders at Abossey Okai

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man who posed as a military officer and allegedly extorted money from traders at Abossey Okai, one of Accra’s busiest commercial hubs.

According to police reports, the suspect wore a fake military uniform to intimidate traders, forcing them to part with money under threats of harassment. His arrest followed multiple complaints from victims who had fallen prey to his scheme.

The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue to determine whether he acted alone or was part of a wider network of impersonators. Authorities say efforts are underway to trace any additional victims.

The Ghana Police Service has cautioned the public to be vigilant and report any individuals suspected of impersonating security personnel. They further assured that such criminal acts will be dealt with swiftly to maintain public safety and confidence.
