Ex-nigerian minister, Uche Ogah faults purported endorsement of Abia PDP Guber candidate, Ahiwe
Dr Uche Ogah, an ex-minister of federal republic of Nigeria, and the Abia state leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday, says his attention has been drawn to trending news publication purporting he had endorsed the state governorship candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party Okey Ahiwe for the coming gubernatorial election in the state.
This comes barely few days the supreme court of Nigeria purportedly affirmed the Abia factional party leader, Mr Ikechi Emenike as the All Progressives Congress Governorship candidate in the state.
Recall earlier that Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako led federal high court in Abuja had on 11th of November 2022, sacked Emenike, and affirmed the ex-minister, Dr Uche Sampson Ogah as the authentic Gubernatorial ticket-bearer of the APC in Abia state.
The court held it was in total disobedience to a letter forwarded by the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that it would adopt a direct mode of the primary election in the state.
The FCT high court also that the direct primary election of 26th and 27th May 2022, which produced Ogah, was valid as the Resident Electoral Commissioner in charge of Abia State endorsed it.
The suit was filed by Ogah followed the parallel gubernatorial primary election that produced Mr Ikechi Emenike as the party’s candidate was held by a faction of the All Progressives Congress in Abia state in umuahia last year.
However, while earlier reacting to a viral news report on purported endorsement of Abia PDP Governorship candidate, Mr Okey Ahiwe, in a statement issued on Wednesday in Umuahia, Dr Ogah described such information as false, adding that the ex-minister maintained a busy schedule overseeing his business interests across the globe and his philanthropic outreaches and as such does not pay attention to infantile tactics targeted at drawing his attention to people of no consequences.
According to the statement, “this fake news in circulation purports that Dr Ogah has thrown his weight behind the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Okey Ahiwe.
“We make bold to categorically declare that such information as he has been taken to town is false and is a development of the figment of the infantile imaginations of those behind such fake news.
“Again, it is public knowledge that Dr Ogah does not waiver in his positions on policy issues and neither does he play games of subterfuge as it concerns politics as his involvement in politics is not for personal gain”.
While frowning at the fake news purporting endorsement of the Abia PDP governorship candidate by the former minister, Ogah maintained that he remained a member of the APC with his solid political structure spread across all the 184 wards in Abia state and unquantifiable political associates and followership in Nigeria.
