Some youth of Ejura have stormed the police station of Ejura on Saturday evening demanding the arrest of suspects who attacked and assaulted an activist of the #FixTheCountry movement in the town.

Believing that their target is dead, the assailants abandoned him and fled.

He was however found unconsciously by his brother’s wife who had heard of strange loud screams and came out to check.

He was quickly transported on motorcycle to the Ejura hospital but was referred to the KATH, where he has been in critical condition after being diagnosed of severe head injury.

The victim is a strong of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) activist  who has been disgruntled by the leadership style of the Municipal Chief Executive, Mohammed Sualisu Bamba.

The party youth has already petitioned the President not to retain Salisu Bamba as the Municipal Chief Executive.

Meanwhile, Pressure group Economic Fighters League are demanding that the perpetrators be arrested by the police and made to face the full rigors of the law.

After several complaints of lack of development, youth empowerment, and bribery and corruption at the assembly, he decided to take matters into his own hands and fight the system.

With his smartphone, Mohammed started recording and exposing corrupt practices and incompetence of politicians and community leaders on social media.

After receiving several threats from multiple fronts, including one from the police CID officer, Mohammed continued his activism until he was tracked, trailed and attacked.

“The warnings started coming after he highlighted the state of public toilets in the town…And some people, who wants to become MCEs again, think he is making them unpopular”, his friend said.

Checks at the police station indicate the case was reported on Saturday morning. The police is however yet to make any arrest.

The slow pace of investigation angered sympathisers of the victim to besiege the police station demanding the arrest of some people named as suspects of the heinous assault.
