Egypt Opens Grand Egyptian Museum, Displays Tutankhamun Tomb in Full for First Time

Egypt has officially inaugurated the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) near the Giza pyramids, unveiling the complete collection of treasures from Tutankhamun’s tomb for the first time in history.

The museum, decades in the making, houses more than 50,000 artifacts from ancient Egypt. Among its highlights are over 5,000 items from Tutankhamun’s tomb, including the golden funerary mask, gilded sarcophagus, chariots, a golden throne, and other priceless treasures that have never before been displayed together.

The GEM is considered the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization. Its striking glass façade, grand staircases, and sprawling exhibition halls provide an unprecedented space for visitors to explore Egypt’s rich history.

Egyptian officials hope the museum will boost tourism and cement Egypt’s status as a global cultural destination. By bringing together Tutankhamun’s full collection under one roof, the GEM offers both scholars and the public a unique opportunity to experience the full legacy of one of the world’s most famous pharaohs.
