Daddy Lumba’s Family Dispute Reaches Manhyia Palace as Sister and Family Head Seek Resolution

The ongoing family dispute surrounding the funeral arrangements of legendary Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba has reached the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, where key family members met traditional authorities to seek intervention.

Ernestina Fosu, the late musician’s elder sister, arrived at the palace alongside the Abusuapanyin (family head), Kofi Owusu, to present their side of the conflict. Their visit follows growing tension between Lumba’s family and members of his funeral planning team over funeral dates, traditional rites, and authority in decision-making.

Reports indicate that the matter was formally laid before palace officials for deliberation, as both factions continue to dispute the proper observance of customary protocols tied to the late singer’s lineage. The involvement of the Manhyia Palace underscores the cultural and traditional significance of the case, especially given Daddy Lumba’s celebrated status in Ghanaian society.

Sources close to the palace say traditional leaders are reviewing the submissions from both parties before deciding on the appropriate course of action. No official statement has been issued yet, but further mediation is expected.

The development highlights how family and traditional customs continue to play a central role in Ghana’s funeral proceedings, particularly when it involves public figures whose legacies hold deep cultural meaning.
