CSA Warns Public of Fake GAF Recruitment Accounts Online

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has raised the alarm about a surge in fraudulent social media accounts impersonating the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) during the ongoing recruitment exercise. Authorities say 86 fake accounts have been detected, targeting unsuspecting applicants with scams.
According to the CSA, these accounts are allegedly soliciting payments for items such as application forms, medical examinations, background checks, uniforms, and training materials. Some victims have even been directed to bogus induction or training sites, only to discover later that they had been defrauded.
The CSA and the GAF have reminded the public that the official recruitment portal is apply.mil.gh, and that the military does not authorize individuals or online platforms to collect money on its behalf. They urge applicants to ignore social media solicitations and avoid paying fees to unverified sources.
Authorities are encouraging anyone who comes across suspicious GAF recruitment accounts to report them immediately to the CSA or the nearest police station. The move underscores the importance of vigilance as cybercriminals increasingly exploit online platforms to defraud job seekers.
