Court Hears How GH¢800k Property Was Sold to Accused Person

A witness in the ongoing Cecilia Dapaah trial has told the High Court in Accra that she sold an 11-unit chamber-and-hall property to the fifth accused person for GH¢800,000.
The witness, Gloria Abrafi Asiedu Asamoa-Baah, explained that the property originally belonged to her husband and was sold after the accused expressed interest, describing the purchase as part of an investment plan.
Prosecutors highlighted the sale as another key transaction under scrutiny in the broader investigation into alleged illicit assets linked to the former sanitation minister.
According to the testimony, the property transfer did not follow the usual formal procedures expected in such deals, prompting concerns about the origin of the funds and the purpose behind the acquisition. Defence lawyers, however, questioned the witness’s account and insisted that additional documents were needed to validate the sale and clarify its circumstances.
The revelation adds another layer to the complex financial trail being examined by the court as the case progresses.
