Court Fines ‘Cyborg’ GH¢24,000 for Unlawful Firearm Discharge at AfroFuture Festival

An Adenta District Court has fined Abubakari Sadick, popularly known as Cyborg, an amount of GH¢24,000 after he was found guilty of unlawfully discharging a firearm at the AfroFuture Festival in Accra. The accused pleaded guilty to the charge, leading the court to hand down the sentence as a deterrent against similar acts at public events.
According to court proceedings, Cyborg was in possession of a firearm and discharged it during the popular music festival, an action that posed a serious threat to public safety due to the large crowd present at the event. The court noted that such behaviour violates Ghana’s firearms laws and endangers lives, especially in crowded public spaces.
In delivering the judgment, the presiding judge stressed that the law applies equally to all individuals, regardless of status or public profile. The court emphasized that unlawful handling or use of firearms will not be tolerated and that offenders will face appropriate punishment under the law.
The ruling has been welcomed by many as a strong message on public safety and accountability, particularly at entertainment events that attract large numbers of people. Authorities continue to urge the public to comply with firearm regulations to help maintain peace and security across the country.
