Chairman Wontumi Appears at CID Headquarters Amid Ongoing Investigation

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has reported to the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Accra as part of an ongoing police investigation.

A video circulating on social media shows Wontumi arriving at the CID office in the company of police escorts and some party supporters. He appeared calm and cooperative as he entered the premises, dressed in a suit and surrounded by members of the media who were eager to capture the moment.

Although the exact details of the case remain undisclosed, sources indicate that his appearance forms part of a broader inquiry into alleged illegal activities. The police have yet to issue an official statement specifying the nature of the allegations or whether any charges are expected.

The development has generated significant public interest, given Wontumi’s prominence in Ghana’s political landscape. Some supporters have described the investigation as politically motivated, while others believe it reflects the police’s growing efforts to ensure accountability, regardless of one’s political affiliation.

As investigations continue, many are closely monitoring the outcome, which could have implications for both Wontumi’s political future and the NPP’s image in the Ashanti Region.
