C/R: Boy, 19, with HIV/AIDS at Abura Pataoko recovering after GHOne TV highlighted his plight

A 19-year-old Gideon Quansah who was abandoned and neglected by the people and Residents of Abura Patoako in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District of the Central Region for having HIV/AIDS virus now recovered after GHONE TV news.

As of February 2022, the viral load of the victim reduced drastically from over 10,000 to 50, and as of now (June) it is less than 30.

It will be recalled that EIB Network Central Regional Correspondent, Yaw Boagyan about eight months ago reported that the boy who’s a Junior High School graduate had been abandoned and neglected by the residents of Abura Patoako for having HIV/AIDS virus.

The victim who was being taken care of by a woman in the community was sleeping in an uncompleted store near the Community’s cemetery on the outskirts of the Abura Patoako Community.

After the news was aired on GHOne TV, a delegation from AIDS Commission visited the community and promised to support him but they couldn’t fulfill their promise and abandoned him.

A Philanthropist from Kumasi, Mr. Henry Assampong came in to support him with a drug known as Hydans PS which was manufactured by Aspong MH Ventures to boost the immune system of the patient and has reduced his viral load drastically.

Meanwhile, the former 1st Vice Chairman for the New Patriotic Party in the Central Region Hon. Horrace Ekow Ewusi is now taking care of the boy after his plight was aired.

Gideon has now been given a Single room self-contained by Ekow Ewusu in his apartment at Cape Coast to stay in temporarily.

Speaking in an interview with the Victim, he expressed his joy over his present condition saying he is now comfortable with where he has been given to stay at Cape Coast by Ekow Ewusi.

According to him, all indications show that he is recovering from the virus, adding that people don’t easily identify him.

Gideon thanked GHOne TV for highlighting his plight which has resulted in help coming his way. He was very grateful to Ekow Ewusi for the support.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for Abura Patoako Electoral Area Hon. Ebenezer Anobil who discovered the victim also said Gideon is now preparing to enter the Senior High School Cycle to pursue Visual Arts which is his favorite course.

He’s appealing to the public to support the boy through his education as he is preparing for his school.

The Assemblyman noted that the rate of stigmatization in his Electoral area has reduced drastically as more education is done by the AIDS Commission in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District.

He also thanked GHOne TV for the support to the boy.
