BREAKING NEWS: Final year Bole SHS student dies hours to WASSCE
A final year student of the Bole Senior High School (SHS) in the Bole District of the Savannah Region has died barely 24-hours to the start of the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Sources revealed that the male student was confirmed dead at the Bole Hospital on Saturday March 6, 2019 where he was on admission after complaining of stomach pains.
Unconfirmed reports gathered that the deceased stomach pains were triggered after mangoes and cashew nuts days earlier.
Authorities of the Bole Senior High School (SHS) have declined comment about the unfortunate development but sources reveal that a delegation has been dispatched to the family to inform them about the sudden demise of the student.
The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has released the timetable for this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The first paper will be the Basketry 3 project work.
It will end on June 7, 2019, with the Elective Information and Communication Technology.
The English Language exam will, however, be written on May 9, 2019.
According to a citnewsroom.comreport, in July 2018, officials of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and WAEC were summoned to appear before Parliament’s Education Committee.
This was because of the poor performance of the students who wrote the WASSCE in that year.
The results showed that close to two hundred thousand students performed poorly in the core subjects.
Of the 316,999 candidates that sat for the exam, the full results of 26,434 candidates were withheld because of examination malpractice.
