Brandon Thomas-Asante Inspires Coventry City to 3–1 Victory Over Watford

Ghana-eligible striker Brandon Thomas-Asante was once again on target as Coventry City secured a convincing 3–1 victory over Watford in the English Championship at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Saturday.
The 25-year-old forward wasted no time in making his mark, firing home just three minutes into the game after connecting perfectly with a cross from Tatsuhiro Sakamoto. The early strike energized the Sky Blues, who maintained control throughout the match.
Coventry doubled their lead through Jamie Allen, who finished off a brilliant team move midway through the first half. Moments later, Sakamoto turned scorer himself, adding a third before halftime to give the hosts an unassailable 3–0 lead.
Watford managed a consolation goal from the penalty spot in the second half, but the visitors struggled to find any rhythm after being reduced to ten men. Coventry’s solid defensive shape ensured there would be no comeback.
Thomas-Asante’s goal was his ninth in eleven appearances this season, continuing his outstanding scoring streak and strengthening his case for a potential call-up to the Ghana national team. His clinical finishing and pressing energy have made him one of the standout performers in the Championship this term.
The win keeps Coventry firmly in the top half of the table as they continue to push for promotion. Manager Mark Robins praised his team’s focus and intensity, noting that Thomas-Asante’s early goal “set the tone for a professional, dominant performance.”
Coventry will look to extend their fine form when they travel for their next league fixture next weekend.
