Body of Missing Burma Camp Worker Discovered in Bediasi River

The Eastern Region has been gripped with shock after the body of Kwadwo Debrah, a civilian employee at Burma Camp, was discovered in the Bediasi River following several days of searching.
Debrah was first reported missing in early November by his brother, Emmanuel Kwakye Daria, after he travelled to Foforfo to retrieve a mobile phone and never returned. His disappearance prompted a community-wide search involving local residents, family members, and police.
On November 25, 2025, search teams located his body in the Bediasi River, bringing a tragic end to the days-long mystery surrounding his whereabouts. The discovery caused considerable distress in the Ahyia Yeboah community near Sokode-Juaso in the Abuakwa North Municipality, where the victim had last been seen.
In the tense hours that followed, confusion and anger within the community led to three houses being set ablaze, though officers from the Ghana National Fire Service swiftly intervened to prevent the fire from spreading further.
Police have confirmed the arrest of five suspects who are currently assisting with investigations. Another individual connected to the case is still being sought. A pathologist was also deployed to help retrieve the body safely and begin the process of determining the exact cause of death.
Security personnel have since been stationed in the area to maintain calm as investigations continue. Authorities are urging residents to remain peaceful and allow law enforcement agencies to complete their work.
