Bantama Hosts Last Remaining 31st December Day Care Centre in Kumasi

The 31st December Day Care Centre in Bantama has become the sole operational facility of its kind in Kumasi, following the closure of the other four centres established by the 31st December Women’s Movement.
Originally founded to provide affordable childcare and support for working mothers, these centres were part of a broader initiative aimed at empowering women and promoting gender equality. Over the years, financial and management challenges led to the shutdown of all but the Bantama facility.
The Bantama centre continues to serve the local community, offering childcare services that help parents balance work and family responsibilities. Community members have praised its resilience but have also expressed concern over the closures, emphasizing the need for support to maintain the centre and potentially reopen others in the future.
The centre stands as a testament to the lasting impact of the 31st December Women’s Movement and its role in advancing social development and women empowerment in Ghana.
