Auditor-General Uncovers Payment Irregularities at National Service Authority

The Auditor-General’s Department has released a detailed report exposing several payment irregularities within Ghana’s National Service Authority (NSA). The report reveals unauthorized transactions, duplicated payments, and weak internal control systems that have cost the state significant amounts of money.

According to the findings, some funds were paid to unverified beneficiaries or processed without proper documentation and approval. The report highlights poor oversight and accountability mechanisms within the NSA, warning that such lapses could undermine public confidence in state institutions.

The Auditor-General has recommended stronger monitoring systems, improved verification procedures, and disciplinary action against officials found culpable. Stakeholders in the Ministry of Employment and the NSA have pledged to review the report and implement corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.

This revelation has sparked public debate on the need for greater financial transparency and accountability across all public sector agencies in Ghana.
