At Least 30 Feared Dead After Armed Attack on Village in Nigeria

No fewer than 30 people are feared dead following a deadly attack on a village in Nigeria’s Niger State, according to local reports.

The incident occurred after armed assailants stormed the community during an overnight raid, firing shots and causing panic among residents. Several houses and shops were reportedly vandalised and looted as villagers fled to safety.

Security agencies and local authorities have since moved into the area to assess the situation and begin investigations into the attack. Survivors were seen evacuating the injured while families searched for missing relatives in the aftermath of the violence.

Although the identities of the attackers and their motives had not been officially confirmed at the time of reporting, the incident adds to growing concerns about insecurity in parts of northern Nigeria, where rural communities have increasingly come under threat from armed groups.

Authorities say efforts are underway to restore calm in the affected area and prevent further attacks, as residents call for stronger security measures to protect vulnerable communities.
