President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, has officially commissioned the Akweteman Central Mosque, bringing to completion a major community project initiated at the request of residents in the area.
Speaking to the media during the commissioning ceremony, the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North, Hon. Theresa Awuni Lardi, disclosed that the project began in 2024 when President Mahama, then leading the National Democratic Congress (NDC), cut the sod for the construction of the mosque. She explained that the project was undertaken after appeals from the people of Akweteman, with the President pledging to see it completed should he win the 2024 general elections.
According to Hon. Awuni Lardi, President Mahama has honored that promise by completing and commissioning the mosque within six months of assuming office. She described the development as a clear demonstration of the President’s commitment to delivering on promises made to Ghanaians.
The MP expressed her excitement and gratitude for the completion of the mosque, noting that it stands as a symbol of trust, accountability, and responsive leadership. She praised President Mahama as a leader who values community needs and works diligently to address them.
Hon. Awuni Lardi also appealed to the Muslim community who will worship at the Akweteman Central Mosque to continue offering prayers for the President. She called on them to seek divine guidance, protection, and strength for him as he leads the country and pursues policies aimed at national development.
The commissioning of the mosque has been welcomed by residents of Akweteman, who see it as a vital addition to the community and a reflection of effective collaboration between leadership and the people.
