The President and Founder of Africkicks, a Los Angeles–based non-profit charity organization, Oumarou Idrissa, has congratulated Senegal following their historic victory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Senegal secured the continental title after defeating host nation Morocco 1–0 in a dramatic final played on Sunday night in Rabat, a match that captivated football fans across Africa and beyond.
Oumarou Idrissa, who is currently in Morocco, was among the distinguished personalities present at the stadium to witness Senegal’s memorable triumph. He joined thousands of supporters as the West African nation lifted the prestigious AFCON trophy after an intense and emotionally charged final.
Beyond attending the tournament, Idrissa’s visit to Morocco formed part of Africkicks’ ongoing mission to empower young people through football development, education, and community support across Africa.
During the AFCON festivities and related engagements, Oumarou Idrissa had the opportunity to meet several globally celebrated figures from sports and entertainment. Among them were renowned French actor Omar Sy, former Manchester United and France international Patrice Evra, football entrepreneur and former Chelsea and Real Madrid star Claude Makelele, and former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
The interactions reflected the growing convergence between sports, entertainment, philanthropy and youth development, with shared conversations centred on African talent, opportunity creation and the future of sports on the continent.
As part of Africkicks’ humanitarian activities during the visit, the organization made a significant donation to Gfiems Académie, a youth football academy in Morocco dedicated to nurturing young talents and providing opportunities for underprivileged children to pursue professional football careers.
The donation exercise was carried out in collaboration with D’Zhane Parker, an executive member of the Black Lives Matter movement, who partnered Africkicks in supporting grassroots football development. The initiative focused on improving training conditions, equipment availability and player welfare at the academy.
Speaking after the donation, Oumarou Idrissa reaffirmed Africkicks’ commitment to youth empowerment through sports, stressing that football remains a powerful tool for social transformation, unity and opportunity.
“Our focus has always been on giving young talents the platform and support they need to succeed, both on and off the pitch. Africa has immense potential, and through partnerships like this, we can help unlock that future,” he stated.
As part of his engagements in Morocco, Idrissa, together with D’Zhane Parker and former NBA star Serge Ibaka, also held high-level discussions with leadership of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The delegation met with the CAF President and key executives to deliberate on youth investment, football infrastructure and international collaboration.
The meeting underscored the increasing role of private organizations, global advocates and former professional athletes in supporting CAF’s long-term vision of strengthening football structures across Africa.
Serge Ibaka, known for his strong African roots and consistent advocacy for youth development, praised initiatives that merge sports with community growth, emphasizing the importance of sustainable grassroots investment.
The presence of Africkicks and its partners at the AFCON final further highlighted the organization’s expanding footprint in African football development.
