Thousands of music fans gathered at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 17, 2026, for ShattaFest, a birthday concert organised in honour of Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale.
The event attracted a mix of entertainment personalities, football figures and other notable guests, with videos from the stadium showing attendees celebrating the musician and enjoying performances during the concert.
Among those spotted at the event was the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, Lydia Yaako Donkor. Her presence drew attention in videos circulating online, which showed her arriving at the venue dressed in white and later enjoying the music.
Ghanaian football personalities were also part of the gathering. Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare and former Ghana international footballer Prince Tagoe were reportedly seen at the concert, adding to the mix of familiar faces who joined fans to celebrate Shatta Wale.
The musician’s father, known as Chief One, was also among those reported to have attended the event, alongside other personalities from Ghana’s entertainment industry.
ShattaFest was organised as part of activities marking the birthday of Shatta Wale, whose real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah. The musician has built a substantial following in Ghana and beyond through his dancehall music, energetic performances and strong engagement with fans.
The choice of the Accra Sports Stadium provided a large venue for the celebration, bringing together supporters from different parts of the country. Attendees were encouraged to wear white, creating a coordinated look among sections of the crowd.
The event was promoted as ShattaFest 2026, with ticketing reportedly facilitated through the Shaxi platform. The gathering highlighted the continued appeal of major live music events in Ghana and the ability of popular artistes to attract audiences beyond their regular music fan base.
The appearance of a senior police official at the concert also became a talking point on social media, particularly as videos showed her participating in the festivities. However, no official statement concerning her attendance was available in the information reviewed for this report.
ShattaFest added to the list of large-scale entertainment events hosted in Accra, bringing together music, celebrity appearances and fan celebrations in honour of one of Ghana’s prominent dancehall performers.
