Scuffle Erupts at NPP Delegates Conference After Alleged Attack on Dr. Bawumia’s Photographer

A moment of tension briefly overshadowed the proceedings at the 2025 New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Delegates Conference yesterday, July 19, 2025, when a scuffle broke out following an alleged attack on a photographer for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The incident, which has since gone viral on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), involved Dr. Bawumia’s official photographer, known as ‘Twinsdontbeg’.1 According to reports from Channel One TV, the altercation occurred as security personnel were clearing a path for Dr. Bawumia, his wife Samira, former Minister of Energy Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and other prominent figures, who were making their arrival at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.2

In the process of creating a clear passage through the crowd, one of the security personnel reportedly struck Twinsdontbeg in the face. This alleged action immediately triggered a confrontation, with the photographer visibly agitated and heard exclaiming, “Are you a fool?”

A video circulating online shows Twinsdontbeg being restrained by some party members as another guard attempted to further confront him. Bystanders swiftly intervened to de-escalate the heated situation, bringing it under control before it could escalate further.

The incident has sparked discussions online about crowd management and the conduct of security personnel at high-profile political events. Despite the brief disruption, the 2025 NPP National Delegates Conference continued, bringing together delegates from across the country to deliberate on key party issues ahead of the flagbearer election scheduled for January 31, 2026. The conference also saw significant decisions made, including the rejection of a proposal to reduce the party’s youth age limit from 40.
