ECOWAS Excellence Award for journalists slated for July 25 in Banjul

The award ceremony is spearheaded by the Directorate of Communication of the ECOWAS Commission.

Twelve (12) outstanding journalists from across ECOWAS Member States will be recognised for their exceptional contributions to public service journalism across television, radio, print, and online platforms.

The award-winning reports were selected for their impactful storytelling, showcasing the real-life benefits of ECOWAS programmes and policies across West Africa. The journalists’ works highlighted themes of regional integration, development, peace, and prosperity.

The ceremony which forms part of the major highlights of the 50th Anniversary of ECOWAS will take place under the patronage of Dr Omar Alieu Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission.

The ECOWAS Excellence Award for Journalists is a landmark initiative aimed at promoting excellence in regional reporting, enhancing the visibility of ECOWAS achievements, and fostering deeper engagement between the media and regional institutions.

Ogyem Solomon

He also owns Press Global Tickets, a service-driven venture in the travel and logistics space, providing reliable ticketing services. He previously owned two notable websites—Ghanaweb.mobi and ShowbizAfrica.net—both of which contributed to entertainment and socio-political discussions within Ghana’s digital space. With a diverse background in media, digital journalism, and business, Solomon Ogyem is dedicated to telling impactful African stories, empowering youth through media, and building cross-continental media partnerships.
