The Ho Sports Stadium, commissioned in 2023, is in a deplorable state, raising concerns about its maintenance.
In a video shared by sports journalist Saddick Adams on X, the pitch had been engulfed with weeds, covering the majority part of the pitch.
Additionally, some of the seats have been removed while others are broken, giving the place a messy and abandoned appearance.
The roofing and other sides of the stadium look frail, making the place a dangerous location for any sporting event.
The poor state of the stadium has raised concerns about how the government and sporting associations care for the stadium after its commissioning.
The Ho Sports Stadium hosted the 2023 Independence Day celebration.
Saddick Adams, in reaction to the video, questioned how the government appointees in the area could allow the stadium to deteriorate after significant funds were invested in the project through the state.
“Ho Sports stadium today. It was completed in March 2023 and hosted Independence Day celebrations. If you’re a DCE or MCE and they build this in your community and you allow it to rot to this state, you should be held responsible,” he wrote on X.
The maintenance of stadiums in the country has been a significant challenge, leading to criticisms from footballers and supporters towards the National Sports Authority and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
