Cameroon beat Ivory Coast to book last slot in 2022 WC playoffs

Cameroon defeated Ivory Coast on Tuesday evening by a lone goal to book their slot in the African playoffs for 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The game Cameroon’s commercial city of Douala was seen as the top-liner for the last round of group matches.

The decider was scored by Karl Toko Ekambi on the 22nd-minute mark.

Four slots were up for grabs after Ghana on Sunday evening, November 14, 2021, become the sixth country to qualify to the playoff stage of the qualifiers.

The Black Stars managed to beat visiting South Africa by 1-0 at the Cape Coast Stadium to top Group G.

Ghana joined Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, Mali and DR Congo.

Since Sunday, the following four countries have also booked slots: Nigeria, Tunisia, Algeria and Cameroon.

It means that North and West African countries are dominating the playoff round with four countries apiece.

The playoffs draws will be in December whiles the two-legged ties will come off in March next year.
