The Church of Pentecost has said it has not erred in building a prison facility for the Ghana Prisons Service at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

According to the General Secretary of the church, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, the Church is doing its master’s (God) bidding by giving out resources that God has blessed them with.

“Jesus Christ told us in the Bible that we should love those in need and even get close to those in prisons as if we were there with them and the Bible also tells us to use resources he blessed us with wisely. He doesn’t want us to use resources He gave us on our own but share with the weak, the vulnerable and that is exactly what we are doing,” he said.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi was speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Friday in reaction to controversies the prison facility had generated.

A section of the public commended the initiative with others tagging it as a misplaced priority.

However, he said Ghana’s prisons are highly congested and they are mostly worried about the poor and vulnerable who are always sent to prison for no wrong done and that is why they always look out for them.

“When somebody finds himself or herself on the wrong side of the law and is incarcerated, Jesus will ask us ‘When I went there [to prison], what did you do?’ So it is based on this that we are doing what we have done. It is just awakening that has come to us that we can’t continue to neglect these people,” he stated.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi said they were ready to support the system and contribute their quota to help the country and therefore find nothing wrong with their initiative.

The Church of Pentecost Ghana on May 11, 2021, handed over a newly built 300-bed prison facility to the Ghana Prisons.

The fully furnished edifice comes with a vocational and technical training workshop, recreational centre, a church building, and baptistery.

The church noted the move forms part of their Security Based Development Projects captured in its vision 2023 with an overarching theme: ‘Possessing the Nations.’

Prophet Eric Amponsah, (Computer Man)

• Prophet Eric Amponsah has pleaded with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to appoint COP Nathan Kofi Boakye as IGP

• According to Computer Man, COP Kofi Boakye has the capacity to deal with crime-related activities recorded in the country

• He made the appeal while sharing his views on recent crimes witnessed in Ghana

The Founder and Leader of Hope Generation Ministry, Prophet Eric Amponsah, has made a passionate appeal to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to appoint COP Nathan Kofi Boakye as the next Inspector General of Police.

Speaking in an interview with Oman Channel sighted by Ghanaweb, Prophet Amponsah touted the Head of Research and Planning for the Police Service as the only person viable of leading a police service capable of dealing with the recent rise in crimes.

“I will appeal to the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Danwka Akufo-Addo to appoint COP Kofi Boakye as IGP. Maybe COP Kofi Boakye between 2014 and 2016 supervised some arrests in the Ashanti Region which may not have augured well. But the only thing that can make Ghana peaceful and end armed robbery is COP Kofi Boakye. You can mark it on a wall,” Computer Man stated while sharing his view on the recent robbery cases including two separate attacks on bullion vans.

Armed gunmen on Monday, June 14, 2021, attacked a bullion van at Jamestown in Accra.
The robbers after staging the attack in which they made away with some undisclosed amount left dead a police officer who was on escort duty in the attacked van and a trader who was a resident in the vicinity.

On the next Tuesday after the Jamestown attack, another bullion van robbery incident was staged on the Accra -Winneba Road.

Unlike the Jamestown incident, the Accra-Winneba Road attack was unsuccessful as the robbers failed to stop the van despite their firing of several gunshots.

The two broad daylight robbery attacks coupled with other gun-related crimes recorded over the past few weeks has led many Ghanaians to raise concern over the level of security in the country.

Some Security Analyst including Mr Adam Bonaa have called for the resignation of the current Inspector General of Police.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and wife, Rebecca Akufo-Addo

What looked like a romantic father’s day message to her husband, President Nana Akufo-Addo, turned sour as Ghanaian social media users directed their anger on first lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo.

She took to social media Sunday to praise her husband on father’s day and expressed how proud she was that Nana Akufo-Addo was working to make things work in the country.

“Over the last four years having watched and prayed for my husband as father of the nation, I have had a close view of the sleepless nights, the countless overstretches and the physical strain to make this country work,” she stated in his article.

Madam Akufo-Addo added, “President Akufo-Addo remains a father we all would be proud of.”

But the above message which was part of her goodwill message to the president has infuriated most Ghanaians who believe the nation is not on the right track, owning to the fact the cost of living is high in the country.

The first lady’s message coincided with an increment in fuel prices across the country– the more reason some Ghanaians descended on her.

Some asked if she was really in Ghana while others criticised Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for sleeping in public.

Below are some of the responses to the first lady’s father’s day message to her husband:
