• Kennedy Agyapong claims Captain Smart bought an air conditioner from his shop three years ago but has failed to pay for the appliance
• He posits that the broadcaster has no moral right to comment about Ghana’s debt
• The MP’s accusation is on the back of the radio presenter’s criticism of the NPP government which has led to his suspension from Angel FM
Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has described outspoken media personality and anti-corruption campaigner, Captain Smart, as a hypocrite.
Speaking on the Monday, May 10, 2021, edition of the Seat Show on Net 2 TV, Kennedy Agyapong stated that he recently heard Captain Smart asking someone to pay for a loan even though he (Captain Smart) is guilty of refusing to settle his own debts.
According to the businessman, Captain Smart as far back as three years ago bought an air-conditioner from one of his shops at a cost of GH¢10,000 but has refused to settle the debt up to date.
“Captain Smart should speak well. This is the last time I am telling him; I don’t mind because he makes a lot of sense and the NPP must listen to him. But today he committed a blunder when I was listening to him. Captain Smart, you came for my air-condition three years ago and up till now, you owe GH¢10,000. So, what moral right do you have even to criticize somebody that they don’t pay back their loans?”
“Go to Super K. and Pay. I called my engineer today to find out if Captain Smart has settled his debt, you still owe GH¢10,000 three years now. But you are out there bragging that when you go for a loan you need to pay so you can get another one. If you had paid back, the money would have been doing some good business today. So please stop talking plenty, common GH¢10,000 you can’t pay. You are a cheap boy,” he stated before walking off the show.
Captain Smart’s constant criticism of the government has not been received well as it is said to be the reason he was recently handed a 30-day suspension by his employer.
According to the General Manager of Angel Broadcasting Network, Kojo Dickson, Captain Smart was suspended by the CEO, Dr Kwaku Oteng, for constantly disrespecting the President, Vice, former President Kufour and the Inspector General of Police.
However, opening up about his suspension, Captain Smart blamed it on pressure on his boss over his constant criticism of ills within the government and his demand for efficient leadership.
He has since started his own media operations after he announced his Smart TV some few days ago. According to Captain Smart, his media operation is a full-fledged media house that will include a TV station, a radio station and an online news portal.
• According to Computer Man, COP Kofi Boakye has the capacity to deal with crime-related activities recorded in the country
• He made the appeal while sharing his views on recent crimes witnessed in Ghana
The Founder and Leader of Hope Generation Ministry, Prophet Eric Amponsah, has made a passionate appeal to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to appoint COP Nathan Kofi Boakye as the next Inspector General of Police.
Speaking in an interview with Oman Channel sighted by Ghanaweb, Prophet Amponsah touted the Head of Research and Planning for the Police Service as the only person viable of leading a police service capable of dealing with the recent rise in crimes.
“I will appeal to the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Danwka Akufo-Addo to appoint COP Kofi Boakye as IGP. Maybe COP Kofi Boakye between 2014 and 2016 supervised some arrests in the Ashanti Region which may not have augured well. But the only thing that can make Ghana peaceful and end armed robbery is COP Kofi Boakye. You can mark it on a wall,” Computer Man stated while sharing his view on the recent robbery cases including two separate attacks on bullion vans.
Armed gunmen on Monday, June 14, 2021, attacked a bullion van at Jamestown in Accra.
The robbers after staging the attack in which they made away with some undisclosed amount left dead a police officer who was on escort duty in the attacked van and a trader who was a resident in the vicinity.
On the next Tuesday after the Jamestown attack, another bullion van robbery incident was staged on the Accra -Winneba Road.
Unlike the Jamestown incident, the Accra-Winneba Road attack was unsuccessful as the robbers failed to stop the van despite their firing of several gunshots.
The two broad daylight robbery attacks coupled with other gun-related crimes recorded over the past few weeks has led many Ghanaians to raise concern over the level of security in the country.
Some Security Analyst including Mr Adam Bonaa have called for the resignation of the current Inspector General of Police.
What looked like a romantic father’s day message to her husband, President Nana Akufo-Addo, turned sour as Ghanaian social media users directed their anger on first lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo.
She took to social media Sunday to praise her husband on father’s day and expressed how proud she was that Nana Akufo-Addo was working to make things work in the country.
“Over the last four years having watched and prayed for my husband as father of the nation, I have had a close view of the sleepless nights, the countless overstretches and the physical strain to make this country work,” she stated in his article.
Madam Akufo-Addo added, “President Akufo-Addo remains a father we all would be proud of.”
But the above message which was part of her goodwill message to the president has infuriated most Ghanaians who believe the nation is not on the right track, owning to the fact the cost of living is high in the country.
The first lady’s message coincided with an increment in fuel prices across the country– the more reason some Ghanaians descended on her.
